Abstracting Natural Landscapes ~ Part III

This is a continuation of Visual Narrative #061 and #065, published February 2nd and March 2nd, 2025

Discovering small and intimate compositions within a larger and more complex viewscape, is like finding beauty within the beautiful.

As I looked over the images I had chosen for this series of abstracts, I noticed that several contained a common compositional thread; a diagonal or oblique line.

Line is a compositional element that leads the eye, often creating a sense of depth, a form of structure, and divisions of space or suggested shapes. The placement of the dominant line also effects the overall sense of balance.

As you look through these divergent landscape abstractions, take note of the leading line and how it effects your interpretation of the entire photograph.
