Abstracting the Natural Landscape I

At one point in my photographic career, I began to feel a lack of creativity, as though I was just replicating familiar landscapes. To get past this feeling, I began to familiarize myself with abstract art; visiting galleries online, listening to curators, and reading books.

When thinking of the word ‘abstract’ as a verb, I began to abstract the landscape by selecting small, simple, and intimate compositions from within the larger and more complex landscape.

In other words, I was seeking small realities within large realities, beauty within beauty.

The following images are ‘abstracts’ as a noun; as single exposures, they are both abstract and documentary.
