“A desire to see more”
Before each 7-day photographic workshop, and sometimes after, Dennis Ducklow and I take a few days to enjoy photographing at our leisure. As we are both hockey fans, we often refer to this time as our pre-game warmup or post game celebration. It’s a time to enjoy the entire creative process; experimenting, investigating, and having fun.
As I am away for the entire month of October, I am writing this newsletter in September with a prescribed date to publish it in October. The idea of missing a month’s publication after 14 years of not missing one, was just too much!!
Here are some images I have enjoyed making at the three locations where Dennis and I operate our 7-day workshops titled Develop Your Creative Vision.
One more thing: During the month of October I am doing a self-directed residency in Montreal. I am there to photograph the city where life began for me in 1939; full circle! Here we go! It’s exciting!
I hope to blog every day, so if you are interested in following my visual adventure, subscribe to this blog. Tell your friends!

The Historic Tallheo Cannery:
The Tallheo Cannery offers a chance to step back in time. Situated in the heart of the pristine mountain valley of Bella Coola, it is surrounded by acres of coastal rainforest, and private rocky beaches. Once a thriving and prosperous salmon cannery and community, it now offers Dennis and I an unparalleled opportunity to explore the art of creative expression.

The Historic Towns of Wells & Barkerville:
Most of the gold rush towns from the late 1800’s and early 1900’s have since disappeared, but the towns of Wells and Barkerville remain; full of life and history. Together they provide us with an opportunity to once again ‘strike it rich’ in the art of creative expression.

The Gulf Island of Gabriola:
Come spring, Dennis and I offer a photographic workshop on the Gulf Island of Gabriola. With beautifully carved sandstone bluffs, abundant sea life, dramatic ocean beaches, and coastal forests which include the very photogenic arbutus tree, Gabriola Island welcomes us with endless creative opportunities.

My goal as a photographer is to walk out into the everyday world and through the creative process, make art. For me it’s about discovering my own creativity, and my own creative path. All the while, of course, the goal is to enjoy the art of creative living.
On our workshops, Dennis and I endeavor to share this philosophy.
Dates for our upcoming workshops will be released soon. Stay tuned to my Newsletters and don’t miss out; many of our workshop participants have returned three times! Expressive photography is forever stimulating, exhilarating, and challenging. Join us!
