Soda Lakes of the Cariboo Grasslands

Soda Lake I ~ an abstract interpretation
Welcome
You are invited to an Exhibit Opening and Garden Party on Saturday, July 25th; 2:00pm at our home & gallery: 5577 Back Valley Rd. (Hwy. 97 at 105 Mile).
Throughout the afternoon, I will be in the gallery ready to discuss photographic expression, especially as it pertains to this 3-year study of our local soda lakes. You might ask, for example, why would I express the water and shoreline of a soda lake as an abstract?
From within a static landscape, I made the above abstract to express the joyfulness I experienced through colour and rhythm. Yellow and blue are upbeat and express cheerfulness. The repetition of 6 curved lines express movement.
The soda lake landscape gives me form and structure which I pull apart and put back together again in new ways. It’s a visual adventure from which new abstract interpretations are made.
And what about the tension created by the touches of red? I’d love to share that story with you too!
It should be a fun afternoon; a setting of flowers, refreshments, friendship, and photographic art. Please join us.

Rita’s garden is a wild-child that loves to have visitors mingling about with a beverage! Instead of sitting inside for a formal presentation, Rita, Teresa, and I invite you to enjoy the garden, visit with friends, savor refreshments, and discuss the new work in the gallery.
RSVP is appreciated for planning purposes.
