This aspen copse is a familiar grasslands feature. Signalling the presence of moisture, each little aspen grove (copse) is a centre of activity; habitat, food, shelter and water for varied and diverse groups of bird and wildlife.
When creating imagery in the natural world, I feel it is far more important how I photograph than what I photograph. In this case it was the repetitive vertical lines that encouraged me to express myself in abstract form – first in my mind and then with my camera. The result is a sense of movement and poetry of form.
