My beautiful cedar-canvas Chestnut canoe – I call her “Chestie”!

Canoeing is my favourite mode of transportation. I bought my cedar-canvas Chestnut canoe in 1969 in Vancouver and since then I have paddled 1000’s of kilometres in her. On the Bowron Lakes alone I have paddled over 14,000 kms. That is equivalent to paddling across Canada from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean THREE times. As I usually paddle an average of 15 kms per day on the Bowron Lakes, that means I have paddled there the equivalent of paddling every day for approx. 3 years of my life!   Because of her beautiful lines and curves, I call her “chestie”! This picture of ‘Chestie’ was taken in the Bowron River marsh last week. Enjoy!
