Most spectacular lava columns in the Cariboo Chilcotin

Some recent book research brought me to this image which displays some of the most stunning basalt columns I have ever set eyes on. Basalt lava cools in columns at right angles to its cooling face. These particular columns were created 5-6 million years ago in what is today Ilgatchuz Provincial Park. They form part of Pipe Organ Mountain where I have seen mountain goats climb, placing their feet as if they were  the organ musicians.
