Capturing the Mood of the Moment

While the rest of us took a break to have lunch, Cheryl opted to strike out across Kibbee Lake. The snow was wet and heavy making it extremely difficult to break trail. Pulling her sled in near white-out conditions, she had disappeared by the time we set out to follow her.

With huge snow flakes swirling, the rest of us made our way across Kibbee Lake. As a photographer, I couldn’t have been happier with the conditions. The mood of the moment portrayed hardship and struggle which I tried to capture. My challenge was keeping my lens dry. One large wet flake on my lens and the image would have been ruined.
