As winter wanes, the grasslands come to life

Sharing Memories of the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast: I have explored this region of BC by foot, canoe, vehicle, skies, raft, snowmobile, horse, and by airplane, and I have photographed every experience. All together they have given me a ‘sense of place’. I feel most fortunate to live and have access to this ‘place’. The images I share with you on this blog are memories of many of those moments in time.

British Columbia, Canada, Fraser River canyon, BC grasslands,

Mike Duffy and I visit the grasslands frequently, and as we drive toward them, we speculate how they will look and what photographic treats await us. They are so very different each and every time we go there.

This was February 14th, and the frozen Fraser River was breaking up, sending chunks of ice southward toward Lillooet. The sound of crunching ice crystals filled the valley, while the sight of other vehicles and people was non-existent. We never tire of the grasslands for they are rejuvenating, exhilarating, and revitalizing.

To view the vicinity of where I made this image, look at the Google Map above. By moving the map around within the window you will see I am just south of the Gang Ranch looking north.  Switch to ‘map’ mode and you will see the road I was on.
