It was on a beautiful autumn afternoon while paddling down the Cariboo River in Bowron Lake Park, British Columbia, that I decided to go ashore, take a break and enjoy the scenery. We often don't take time to look back upstream in our rush to get to camp on Unna Lake, but this meandering river offers one of the parks great vistas. The mountain you see here is Mt. Ishpa. It is the Takulli First Nation word for 'father' that suitably is the highest peak in the park.
